Description
“On the third day, he rose again.” These familiar words stand at the centre of Christian faith, yet the resurrection is not simply a doctrine to recite or an event to remember once a year. It is a reality that changes lives.
This study invites readers to enter the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection through the experiences of those who encountered him in his final days and in the astonishing aftermath of the empty tomb.
Through the stories of Peter, Mary Magdalene, Thomas, Paul and the disciples on the road to Emmaus, readers are drawn into the emotional landscape of Holy Week and Easter. These are not distant figures preserved in stained glass; they are people who knew fear, grief, confusion, regret, doubt and longing. As they meet the risen Christ, their lives are transformed by surprise, joy, forgiveness and new purpose. Their stories help modern readers ask what resurrection means not only for the world to come, but for the lives they are living now.
Designed for personal reading or a six-week group study, this book is especially useful during Lent and the Easter season. Tom Berlin’s storytelling and careful engagement with Scripture make the material accessible, reflective and pastorally grounded. The study offers a way to move beyond the sorrow of the cross without ignoring it, focusing instead on the redemptive power of God to bring new life where loss once seemed final.
This is an ideal resource for small groups, Sunday school classes, home groups, pastors and church communities seeking a meaningful Lenten program. It offers a thoughtful path toward Easter, helping readers rediscover the hope of resurrection and consider how the risen Christ continues to transform hearts, communities and the world.
