Like Honey on the Heart
A short reflection on Psalm 119:97-104; 2 Timothy 3:14-4:5; Luke 18:1-8
What runs in the background of your day? A to-do list? A steady hum of anxiety? For the psalmist, it was the sweetness of God’s word. Psalm 119 describes Scripture as more than rules – it’s a delight, a melody in the mind, a source of wisdom that tastes like honey. It shapes how we live and who we are, not with heaviness but with joy.
Paul echoes this in his letter to Timothy. Even when the world prefers comforting lies over hard truths, we are called to stay grounded in Scripture. It trains us not to judge others but to be shaped ourselves – into people of integrity and love, ready to act when needed. We are reminded that true faith isn’t passive; it requires persistence, even when it’s unpopular.
And Jesus gives us the image of a widow who refuses to give up. Though powerless by society’s standards, her faith is fierce. She keeps going. She keeps asking. And eventually, she is heard. If even an unjust judge relents, how much more will God listen to those who pray with persistence?
So let Scripture become your background music. Let it dwell in your thoughts and shape your days. Let prayer be your rhythm, not your last resort. And let your faith be steady, sweet, and strong.
Let God's word dwell in you like a daily song, guiding your choices with joy and wisdom.
Stay faithful and persistent, especially when truth is hard and prayer seems unanswered.
